VGMA board confesses they weren’t careful enough

The board of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2016 has confessed that it did not do proper thoroughness before nominating rapper Teephlow in three categories.

Teephlow’s three of four nominations were cancelled after public raised concern that, ”The Warning”, the track for which he was nominated in those categories was released in April 2014  and not in the year under review( 2015).

In an exclusive interview, Nii Ayitey Hammond, a member of the board accepted that the board made a mistake in this matter.

When asked if the board takes responsibility for this slip up, he replied, “We do. Definitely we trusted our research team to have detected this, so if they couldn’t and we went ahead and put it out, we would acknowledge it and that is the reason we corrected it.”

“It was a clear mistake and no one plans a mistake. Honestly, the research team spited a lot of things and cleared out of the list we got. It’s unforgivable but we admit it and we have fixed it”, he added.
The categories which were revoked were Best Rapper of the Year, New Artiste of the Year and Hiphop Song of the Year. His Best Music Video of the Year nomination however holds.
