Maame Dokono who has continuously complained about filmmakers ignoring legendary actors has commended Kumawood producers for finally listening to her.
After her acting career shut down, she took the responsibility of household and once complained that filmmakers are stuffing the young faces with makeup to make them look older to play the roles in movies while the naturally old talent remains jobless.
“In our neighboring country Nigeria, old actors and actresses are being given roles in the movies but in Ghana we see young people playing those roles too. We are here and are not even charging much so they should utilize our talent,” she told in an exclusive interview.
Known in real life as Grace Omaboe, Dokono in a recent interview celebrated Kumawood producers for giving the roles to some veteran actors after their request.
As stated by her, Kumawood film producers have changed.
“For quite some time now, some of the Kumasi filmmakers have started giving us work. I was on the set of a movie about two weeks ago in Sunyani.”
She also debunked media reports that she is sick and needs prayers. She said she is surprised someone will promote such false stories about her, there’s nothing like that and she is making her come back on the screen soon.
