The perfume and fragrance you wear has a huge impact on your personality. However, it is also important to wear your perfume correctly so that it stays longer, if your perfume wears off after a few hours and you know that it is an authentic fragrance than it means that you are not applying the perfume correctly. Here are some tips to make your perfume last longer.
1. Choosing the right perfume for yourself:
Choosing the right perfume/scent for your personality is the first step. Don’t just buy the perfume because it is a designer one; make sure you get the one that goes with your personality. Choose the one that has both the tops and bottom notes to your absolute liking. The difference between the top notes and the bottom notes is that top notes are the one that you smell as soon as you open the bottle or sniff it, these are usually citrus, fruit or herbs smells and wear off pretty quickly.
The bottom notes are the ones that stay longer and are very important as they usually stay longer. They are usually wood or natural smells. To determine what the bottom notes are, just sprits some perfume on the back of your wrist and wait 20 minutes before smelling it, that’s the bottom notes you will smell after the mentioned time. So make sure that you get the right perfume that you love and want to wear.
2. Differentiate between day time and night time perfumes:
Most people just sprits the perfume they have without paying much attention to what the label actually says. Scents usually have daytime fragrance or night time fragrance labelled on them. If it is not mentioned on the packaging, you can always tell by the color of the perfume. Bright yellows and oranges usually mean day time and dark Blue, black and red suggests a night time wear. When going out on the town, shopping etc day time perfumes are best applied, but for a date, and dinner, night time fragrances are worn usually. If you are going to wear a daytime perfume, spray it after applying some moisturizer on the areas you will be spritzing it on, day time perfumes are usually designed to last longer throughout the day, they are applied usually down the hips or knees.extra moisturizing will hold the perfume longer and better. Night time perfumes usually wear off more quickly and so are sprayed on and around the neck area, apply moisturizer before spraying the scent on.
3: Hop in the shower:
The best time to apply your scent to make it stay is after taking a shower. Make sure you take a warm shower, as it will open your pores and make the perfume last longer on your skin.
4. Use unscented body wash:
The best thing that can be done to make the scent last longer is to use any unscented body washes and soaps, it will make your scent smell better and will not clash with the fragrance of your scent.
5: Dry off your skin:
After you take your shower, dry off your skin as your perfume won’t stick on damp skin. Spray it on the hard skin like the back of your knees, hair and neck. It will make it last longer and also acts at its highest level. Also apply scent before wearing your clothes, it will interact with your skin and will hold better.
6. Moisturizing:
Moisturize your skin before applying perfume. Anybody lotion or body oil will work, the best thing is petroleum jelly as the scent will stick to the molecules of the petroleum jelly other than skin and stay on longer. Apply it on the pulse points that include the underside of your wrist, the sides of your neck, the backs of your knees, your elbows, and feet.
7. How to spray:
When you spray the scent, keep it at least 5 to 7 inches away from your skin. If you feel that your perfume has moistened your skin, then you are holding it too close. Spray the scent directly on your pulse points and do not rub it as the natural oils of the skin interact with the scent changing the fragrance also rubbing the skin breaks the molecules of your scent. Wait at least 10 minutes before wearing clothes or until your perfume has dried off naturally without rubbing.
Try not to overdo it, a little scent at the right place will do the trick. You probably can’t smell it as much as others can so just don’t put on too much.
