Some centuries ago musicians sang two of my favorite songs of having the similar title. Every morning before leaving my home I used to listen them because they all talk about such an important topic. Both are entitled as “The Power of the dream” by Celine Dion and Linda Thompson.
Thompson says “The power of the dream, the faith in things unseen, the courage to embrace your fear-No matter where you are, to reach for your own star… to realize the power of your dreams.”
Celine Dion elaborates it like “Deep within each heart, there lies a magic spark
That lights the fire of our imagination. And since the dawn of man,The strength of just ‘I can’ Has brought together people of all nations…”
“Your mind will take you far, the rest is just your heart
You will find your fate is all your own creation
And every boy and girl as they come into this world
Bring the gift of hope and inspiration…’
Feel the flame forever burn
Teaching lessons we must learn
To bring us closer to the power of dream
As the world gives us its best, to stand apart from all the rest,
It is the power of dream that brings us here
I can imagine that you are astonishing why you are reading about the two musicians who sang about dreaming. The initial step of learning in life is to dream of anything. If you really want to learn and to be able to learn onward; you must be aware what you desire in life, and you must know what you desire to do. The future you wish for will not come to you by itself, you must have to dream, think or imagine of it and then plan things accordingly. Things about which we are aware of were somebody’s dream. Therefore your wishes can only be true if you dream of it and you can get them after having faith on them.
Recently I was honored by being invited in Accra to the Vodafone African SME summit, and I received message from the summit that Africans problem is that they do not dream much. We have stopped concerning about what is going through our countries, continent and ourselves.
If we do not dream, novelty will stop and we remain sluggish. For example 80% of the inhabitants in Asia, Europe and America would be nearer to giving up and yield will decrease severely in the upcoming twenty years. However 50% of our existing population is less than the age of 20 in Africa. With the raising middle class the majority of the economies are converting into emerging economies. So it seems that we have young and affluent people. Any business person makes plans to target these people will make it big.
In what way are we imagining about upcoming ten, fifteen or twenty years, what are the ideas? It’s the power of our dreams that when our heart wants to acknowledge something, he sends the picture of that experience to our subliminal mind. Certainly we have known about this phrase that “What you see is what you get.” My father used to tell me that “If you watch the long tree for long time it will stir.” We see what we want to see. Imagination is just like stars you cannot tap them, but if you go after them they will lead you to future.
Psychologists say that more than our imaginations nothing can controls our lives. We exist like the individual as we look in the mirror. We are what we imagine we are. If you do not dream or think you would not be victorious. You cannot be it if you cannot see it. Your vision controls your life. You have to change your mental picture if you want to change your life. Dr. Joyce Brothers say that you must dream the dream if you want your dream to be come true.
In 1976 Arnold Schwarzenegger was not so popular when he met to a newspaper reporter. That reporter questioned Schwarzenegger that now you have left bodybuilding, what are your plans for future? He answered very peacefully and boldly that I want to be the top Hollywood actor. The reporter stunned and smiled at Schwarzenegger’s plan. It was so onerous to think that how this body builder could be a top movie star in Hollywood as he was not an actor by profession and even he spoke very poor English with Austrian accent at that time. Then the reporter questioned him that how he has planned to bring his dream true. Schwarzenegger replied that I will do it in the same way as I became the number one body builder of the world. What I should do is to think about it that what I want to be then I will start living according to my mind as it were previously true.
If you want to be a star you have to burnish your own light, chase your own path and forget about the obscurity because stars always shine luminous.
You will be what your imagination is. You have to dream the unattainable dream, wrestle with supreme rival and struggle till your last bit of courage to attain the unattainable star. Vast imagination leads to the superb victory, so that is why by taping your dream on paper, you set action, and the way of becoming the person you most desire for.
I know a victorious businessman wears a shirt with the phrase written on it, “Do not just chase your dreams, run after them and deal with them.” You will live once in a life so get the best life. So that you will be contented on what you see and get. Just think about it for a while.
