Akatakyie: we had a very ‘wrong’ management

Akatakyie, the music duo which is made up of Prince Kwabena Budu Asumaning (Kobby Culture) and Ebenezer Kwasi Okyere Asumaning (King Pharaoh) have disclosed that their management team’s poor performance is the reason of their absence from music industry.

“The reason why we disappeared so easily was as an outcome of our unlimited sacrifices we had given to our clients; however we also had a wrong management who did not do anything good for us. Our first management was Peter and Kojo whereas the second one was Uncle George. They only advertised the music but did not nurture the artiste.”

In a recent interview, the duo stated that they have studies the music industry and are now ready to start their work.

“We wanted find someone to be a sponsor of our new album and that’s why we wanted to study the game.”

Ghana mbaa, their very first album had been a complete success in the Ghanaian music industry in 1999. It was difficult to categorise them as a hiplife or highlife group as Odo esisi me ruled several charts and won them Ghana music award nominations including best hiplife song. They released that album with Odo Esikyire, Yede aba and Esi.

They have given many hit songs such as Ghana mmaa, Agoo, Odo esikyire, Sinsima, Esi, Meyare, Masan aba, Oman baapa, Odo ye musu anaa, among others.
