After sixteen years of arranging the most celebrated music awards ceremony in Ghana, many experts and music lovers have stood on the issue of transparency to find out why organizers would not publish the results for acquired votes.
They argued that the public votes for their beloved candidates and hence it is their right to know the election result.
But Nii Ayittey Hammond, board chairman of the scheme, said that the organizers cannot maneuver the results since event statistician, KPMG, prides on reliability.
According to him, KPMG manages and assembles the votes and it is right for anyone who doubts the results to see the accounting firm for confirmation.
“You can go to KPMG and you can get the results. If you want to test it so go to them. All the results are available there; they have a name at risk. They keep on sitting at the venue till the event ends to make certain that what they put forward is what is being said,” he said.
Mr Ayittey Hammond stated that the voting is done by an academy, the board and the public, adding that all these events are tightly supervised by KPMG.
“They go straight to the content provider for the public votes. When the academy is voting, they are present and gather everyone’s votes; same happens when the board votes. Then they accumulate and bring out the results,” he said.
There is still a big question, which is, why would entertainers go to KPMG when they did not sign an agreement with the auditing firm?
