Eyeglasses can be a pain to look after and maintain, and there is no way you can survive without wearing your glasses especially if your numbers are high. Also, eyeglasses are expensive and you cannot change them every now and then. The eye glasses can be hard to maintain, what with all the smudges, smears and fingerprints on the glass that make the vision cloudy and blurry?
In this article we will discuss some points about how to maintain your eyeglasses that will help them stay in tip top shape for a long time or at least your next eye exam,
1. Whenever you have to take your glasses off, use both your hands and hold your glasses from the sides not from the lens. When you use only one hand to take your glasses off, you stretch the ear piece and dislocate it, and makes the glasses lose.
2. A lot of people put their glasses on their heads, which is a very bad idea, as it distorts the shape of eyeglasses and there is more chance of the glasses falling off from the head and hitting the ground and there you go, you smash the whole thing.
3. When you have to clean up your glasses, buy a microfiber cleaning cloth from a drug store or chemist for a few dollars. Rinse your glasses with water and hold your glasses in one hand while rubbing the lenses gently with the other hand. Breathe over your glasses after you have wiped them off and wipe them again before the mist dries off, clean them up until there are no smudges or smears left on the glass.
4. Don’t wipe your glasses using a regular cloth, as the dirt trapped inside the fiber scratches the lenses.
5. Never use a tissue paper or paper towel for cleaning your glasses as they too scratch lenses.
6. A dirty microfiber cloth as it makes your glasses even more dirty than they were before, so make sure you use clean cloth for cleaning your glasses.
7. If you are not happy with your cleaning results, you can buy one of the prepared solutions made for cleaning glass lenses. Spray it on top of your lenses and rub with a microfiber cloth, repeat the process on both sides of your lenses.
8. Don’t poke your glasses using a finger on your nose piece too much as it also loses up the nose piece and finishes off the paint on the nose piece sometimes even.
9. Buy an eye glass repair kit; they can be easily bought from a drug store, eyeglass vendors or counters of most vendors. They can be very helpful in tightening the screws of your eye glasses arms. They can also adjust other little wear and tears on your eyeglasses.
10. When you aren’t wearing your glasses, put them in eyeglasses case, get one from a drug store, or your optician. The one that opens and closes is the best the ones that need glasses to be slipped into are not a good idea as they scratch the lenses with the cover during the process of putting the glasses in or taking them out, as a result your vision might appear hazy or unclear. When you have to put your glasses on the table or any other surface, make sure that the lenses are on top of the surface.
