Legendary actor, Bob Smith Jnr, famous for his role as “Diabolo” has demanded Agya Koo to extend apologies for some arrogant comments he has made.
Agya Koo, privately called Alexander Kofi Adu had claimed that various television shows such as Kumkum Bhagya are popular because they are filling the vacuum which was created after his absence from ‘dying’ industry. He further claimed that he redeemed the image of film industry at such a time when Nigerian films had taken over Ghanaian industry.
In a recent interview, Bob Smith Jnr disagreed with Agya Koo’s comment and demanded an apology from the actor.
“I am not sure why he said that or what he was asked. But if he did with arrogance, he must apologise. You are a performer, you paid your duty; but if you claim to be the one who revived it, then I do not agree,” he said.
While sharing his views about the issue, Secretary of Film Producers Association of Ghana, James Aboagye agreed with Bob Smith Jnr.
“He can only say that he has paid his dues. If he claims to revive the industry, I beg to disagree because the industry was alive even before him.” he stated.
As per reports, film producers were not willing to cast Agya Koo in their productions because they thought him to be “arrogant”. They claimed that, on many occasions, Agya Koo had been disrespectful towards them.
Even though some of them have decided to cast him after a meeting to settle the issue cordially, the majority of film producers are convinced they can do without him.
