Not long ago, the legendary actor William Addo had been in the news for requesting Ghanaians to help him collect Gh5000 for his eye surgery or else he might lose his eye-sight.
As per reports, the veteran star had sent letters to Cultural Forum, Ghana Actors Guild, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts for support but unfortunately he did not receive positive response.
Recently, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare stated in an interview, that there was a reason behind government’s death ear to his request.
She disclosed that government did not co-operate with William when he needed GhC5000 because the public had already helped him when government was about to give a helping hand.
“William was in need of government’s help and before we even got ready, an FM station had paid the required amount. Secondly, the purpose of requesting this aid was not to be rich but to pay a certain bill. Since it is already taken care of, so we do not think there is any need for us to pay the said amount again.”
