Reggae artist, Blakk Rasta
The outspoken radio presenter and Reggae artist, Blakk Rasta has stated that the greatest and most awaited annual music awards ceremony, VGMA should be improved; according to him music awards are just like secondary school fun fair event so they should grow from that level to a bit more decent and advance level.
The artist has keenly observed that the audience present there at the awards event is very immature and always shout the name of their favorite artists, which they hope to win. This is not a mature thing. They make noises and all.
The ‘Serwaa Akoto’ hit-maker made a comparison between the audience at the Grammys and Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and advised that Grammys be copied, he did this in a mid-morning show, while talking to Abrantepa.
He said, “In my opinion, VGMA needs to develop from the young audience members. Actually the audience is so young and as a result did immature things for supporting their favorite artist, a crowd that is yelling the names of musicians. On the other side, when you see at the Grammys awards, they are very nicely seated; they don’t yell the names of their favorite singers since they know you are perched by some individual who additionally underpins another musician. When you shout the name of artist and he shouts too, the resulted voice is totally based on confusion.”
He added, people should only clap upon the announcement of winner’s name, but here crowd shouts that make VGMA look like some secondary school fun fair. For artist, this thing is very terrible but he didn’t count is as a fault of award organizers, Charterhouse.
Blakk Rasta also suggested that awards should be given on the basis of talent rather than popularity. These all suggestions given by the artist will help to improve the next edition of annual awards scheme.
