Rex Omar reveals Ghanaians duplicity over profane songs

Popular Ghanaian Highlife musician, Rex Owusu Marfo popularly known as Rex Omar has stated that his hit single, ‘Abiba’ is all about the double standards and hypocrisy among Ghanaians about how they react towards profane songs.

He said, Ghanaians are so hypocrite regarding this type of music.

He disclosed that these Ghanaians criticize these types of songs publicly but in reality they support such music laced with risqué lyrics. It is an evident from massive airplays and sales of such songs.

Rex Omar revealed on radio station, Friday, 17 June, that he has started his music career with philosophical and Christian compositions.

Previously, he has already conceded lament for making the single “Abiba” on his Dangerous debut album, which created critical debate in the late ’90s for its licentiousness, however camouflaged.

In any case, he unveiled that in the wake of coming back from a tour abroad to advance one of his tunes, which was battling for massive airplay locally, he understood that Simi Rapp by Gyedu Blay Ambolley, a broadly tactless single, had been a hit single, a perception that made him tread that way.

He told Radio host, Nana Romeo, “So I said if this is what you want I will give it to you. And, trust me; this song is one of my top hits.”
