The filmmaker of Ghana, Socrate Safo has disclosed that he is yet to see a God directed gospel musician in Ghana.
The producer of ‘Hot Fork’ claimed that Ghanaian gospel musicians are present in the industry for commercial drives. The also suggested that gospel artiste should not sell the gospel but give it out free of charge.
He stated that:
“I am yet to see a spirit filled, God directed gospel artiste in Ghana. All I see are commercial businessmen who are playing their skill using the word of God. They are just commercial artistes. The gospel is free of cost. You are marketing it and that means who ever doesn’t have money, cannot get a copy. The moment you decide to exchange for a fee, then you’re doing commercial business. They are all in for commercial profits.”
Further journalist asked him if gospel musician will not sell the music then who they will pay the bills of studio then he replied that people who are affected by the message can bless the artiste whose work they listened to. He also claimed that he worked with many with many gospel musicians but he never took a pesewa from any of them because he was helping to spread the gospel.
