The demise news of legendary highlife musician, Daasebre Gyamena is a real shock for all Ghanaians especially his close fellow musicians.
Many celebrities and public messages shared their memories with the late artist on social media platforms for paying tribute.
Former Ghanaian hiplife musician, Lord Kenya also expressed shock over hearing the sad news of his colleague.
In an interview with radio channel, the musician who was starred on Daasebre Gyamena’s song, ‘Kokooko’ described that the late artist was a very humble and sober person and it’s very hard to believe that he is no more.
He told radio presenter, “He is a laid-back person. He doesn’t talk much. I’m stunned also. There’s nothing I can say to express my feelings. I’m so sad and in severe pain.”
The late highlife musician was confirmed dead yesterday early morning at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra.
As indicated by his family, the artist was battling with some illness since long time but couldn’t survive more. His condition was serious one day before death and was found unconscious.
He came into limelight in 1999 when he released his hit single, ‘Kokooko’ which made waves in music industry.
The musician was detained in the United Kingdom in 2006 for possession of morphine however was later vindicated of the offense.
