Highlife act, Oheneba Kissi
Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician, Oheneba Kissi has showed his disappointment in radio presenters who did not support highlife singers to promote their music.
He said it’s very sad that highlife musicians are being neglected these days. They are not getting exposure that they deserve.
Speaking in an interview with Mike2, he mourned over the death of highlife legend, Daasebre Gyamena and told TV host that these radio presenters are very hypocrites, when Daasebre was alive they didn’t help him to promote his album and even didn’t play his songs and now when he is dead, they have been continuously playing his songs.
“Daasebre was trying to get help from the radio presenters and Disc Jockeys to promote his last studio album which he has released a year ago however couldn’t get such support, how can people be this hypocrite and cruel”, he smoldered.
The ‘ABC of Love’ singer said, “Hiplife music has made considerable progress depicting our culture which is the foundation of our music in Ghana.”
He added, our past highlife musicians have dedicated their whole life, time and money into music industry for recording best music to serve Ghanaians, and due to their efforts they sent Ghana music to international level but they got nothing in return.
Moreover, he said highlife artists are not even recognized and DJs are not supporting their hard works.
