Okyeame Kwame
The rap doctor, Kwame Nsiah Appau popularly known as Okyeame Kwame has unveiled that the greatest honor he ever received as a singer is the alteration of his lyrics for study in some universities across the world.
In an interview he said though he does not get paid by the universities that study his words, he is ok with the honor.
‘It is being studied at the ‘Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’, ‘Yusuke’ and not just that, few American universities also study it.’
The talented musician said ‘it is not being used for commercial determinations but rather scholarly purpose. For my lyrics to be taken and valued at KNUST’s literature department … that one to me is the premier honor I have had.’
He said expert musician, Agya Koo Nimo, and other Linguistics professors in 2004 taught him the literature behind his rap and the poetries he wrote.
‘Till then, I did not have a clue. I was just lettering. It was after Agya Koo Nimo and some other Linguistics professors taught me the literature behind my rap and poetries that I got to know that there is a difference between an ‘art in mind’ and ‘art in emotion.’
