The president of MUSIGA, Obour uttered that any kind of violence during elections will directly affect the musical industry.
Recently he appeared in an interview he described that how Ghanaian music industry was disturbed due to violence appeared in 80’s elections. Few of his words are mention below:
‘If Ghana agree not to be peaceful and Ghana decides just to shake up a little bit, one industry that will suffer most is the music industry because again our work is showbiz.’
He also clarified the duties of musicians according to elections. He said as musicians, it is keenly important to be on the move to ensure that Ghana has peaceful elections.
To maintain and promote peace, MUSIGA organized the peace walk few days back. They also released peace songs. Names of some artists who participated in peace campaign are Tagoe Sisters, S.P Sarpong, Rev Dr Thomas Yawson, Gifty Osei and Joe Mettle. The legendary musicians like Iwan, A.K Songstress, Blakk Rasta, Dr Knii Lante and Ras Kuuku. Gasmilla, Nero X, Don Itchie, Tic Tac, Tinny, Atom, Gasmilla, Samini and Okyeame Kwame also participated. Others includes such names like Ras Kuuku, Papa Wastik and Edem.
