Many musicians in Kumasi have blamed Rap Docta Okyeame Kwame for not doing anything to help the music industry in the city.
The allegations became serious when he released “Ksi Boys” featuring Flowking Stone, Cabum, Strongman and Kunta Kinte. For some, Okyeame Kwame just helps his younger brothers and few selected artists from the city, but Kwame says otherwise.
He stated that helping an artist doesn’t only include working with them but how your own life influences the artist.
“It’s not true because the support has always been there. If you’re inspired by Michael Jackson and Bob Marley who are not alive, but they can still be your inspiration if you take time to understand what they did that made them successful and do the same.
When an artist wants help, he wants help in two ways. Either he needs financial help or help with an idea. When you are going to consider any of these ways in helping an artist, you need to make sure that it would be supportive.
With respect to the ideas, one of the main ways to help an artist is to organize seminars and invite these young upcoming talents to come and learn different things. I’m at that stage right now and I have created a group to help make it possible.”
Okyeame Kwame also revealed that the music industry has evolved so young musicians should not wait for any famous artist to come for their help.
