Upcoming Ghanaian actress, Shirley Emma Tibilla looks forward to debut with Shampaign, a film directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso of Sparrow Productions.
Shirley who’s playing the wife of a president in Shampaign, thinks she has everything that is needed to become a star and in the next five years, she hopes to see herself as one of the top actresses in Hollywood.
“I am gorgeous, brilliant and ready to accept any role by any film producer. Apart from the many plays I performed in at the University of Ghana, Legon, I have been practicing by myself on how to play different roles and I think I am ready for any role.”
“It is not easy for local actors to make it in Hollywood but I believe I will be there in a time of five years. The fact that Shirley Frimpong Manso chose me out of the many that auditioned for her film should tell anyone how excellent I am. I am saying every Ghanaian to look out for me,” she said.
The elegant actress who considers Akosua Busia and Ama Anima Misa Amoah among her favorite actresses said, she also has plans of doing TV and radio presenting.
Shirley, who once was a banker, told that she had to give up dealing with notes and coins and make a run for the silver screens because she has always wanted to be an actor.
“Even though I worked at Intercontinental Bank for more than a few years, I have always wished to be an actress, and I thank God I have finally got my first role in Shirley’s movie. Not many actresses get the chance to work with Shirley but I am delighted I did”, she said.
Telling her experience at the Shampaign audition, Shirley said as much as she was pleased to have been called, she recollected some kind of fear began to haunt her when she got to the venue.
“I was anxious but I knew I had to do my best. I knew I had to put in more because Shirley is an amazing producer and I did not know what she expected of me.”
Even though I was nervous I was not going to be selected at the end, I was surprisingly certain I was the right person for the job because I played my part very well,” she added.
