Gospel musician, Patience Nyarko, the hit maker of song, “W’afom Kwan” has severely reacts against Board of awards for nominating Gospel singer, SP Kofi Sarpong in the category of album of the year and also in the category of overall artist of the year in this year’s VGMA. She disclosed this on radio channel over the weekend.

As per her, Charterhouse scratched the Gospel album of the year category for the current year’s awards scheme due to the fact that the VGMA Board didn’t get any gospel songs album that has at least three hit singles or even more than 3 hit tracks on an album and that SP Kofi Sarpong don’t have considerably more than 1 hit single to justify a place in the category of album of the year.

She said, “Album ‘I Believe’ of Kofi Sarpong did not likewise promote three hit tracks subsequently it was bad for him to pick up for nomination. Somebody is giving favor to some person since none of the gospel singers could able to promote a few hit singles on their album, and therefore no gospel musical artist qualified to get selected in the category of gospel album of the year or overall album , so why ought to SP Sarpong is nominating for the category of album of the year”.

She proceeded with, “My single, titled ‘W’afom Kwan’ beat all the gospel graph shows crosswise over Ghana for a while and even rise above to some mainstream chart shows, and none of the song of SP Sarpong ever topped any chart shows till now. If in any event they won’t nominate my album or song, shouldn’t something be said about any semblance of Oman Acheampomg’s “Aporsor” or that of ‘hyebre sesafo’ by Obaapa Christy?

I am not here to get any type of favor but my question is why SP Kofi Sarpong is being nominated for even four categories?

The annual VGMAs 2016 is slated for 7th of May.
