Ghanaian dancehall act, Stonebwoy

The year 2015 is considered as a thrilling one for some Ghanaian artists as well as Ghanaian music. Many artists soared both nationally and internationally raising high the flag of their homeland Ghana.

One of the acts, who stood tall amongst his companions last year is dancehall artist, Livingstone Etse Satekla, commonly known as Stonebwoy in the music industry.

The dancehall artist made an immense effect in the Ghanaian music industry in 2015.

The following are some of the high points of his music career a year ago:

Stonebwoy practically had nominations in all the significant award ceremonies held in 2015 and even went ahead to bag most of the awards.

He won the highest award, ‘Artist of the Year’ at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015 (VGMAs). He likewise won two other awards at the same event, ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ and ‘Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year’.

In that same year, Stonebwoy beat Sarkodie, AKA, Yemi Alade and WizKid to win the ‘Best International Act – Africa’ at the BET Awards 2015.

Still on awards, Stonebwoy won six awards out of eight nominations at the 2015 BASS Awards. The awards incorporated the Artiste of the Year at the event.

Once more, at the 4Syte Music Video Awards, he won ‘The Most Influential Artist of the Year’, ‘Best Directed Video’ and ‘Best Reggae/Dancehall’.

In July, he was at in South Africa, where he had a nomination in the Best New Act category. Despite the fact that he didn’t win, Stonebwoy gave a noteworthy performance on the night.

Far from all the major and minor awards, Stonebwoy performed at all significant shows in the last year.

His ‘Go Higher’ tour saw him perform, close by some of Ghana’s finest, at packed shows in the capital, Accra and Tamale.

In May 2015, he organized ‘A definitive Concert’ to thank his fans for supporting his music and his BHIM Nation group alive and solid.

In November, Stonebwoy performed at the ‘Mo Ibrahim’ show with some top African music acts, for example, Angélique Kidjo, Youssou N’Dour and Sarkodie.

Outside the capital Accra, he featured the Akwambo Muzik Festival at Swedru in August where he excited fans by thrilling performances.

In Koforidua, in the Eastern Region, he was one of A-list artists at the ‘Celebrity Soccer Weekend’ where he played football furthermore performed for his fans. That event was followed by the ‘Tigo Unplugged’ show in Kumasi.

One of the main highlights of Stonebwoy’s 2015 timetable was in November when he joined Jamaican fabulous reggae group ‘Morgan Heritage’. He joined the group as one of the main artists for their European visit named “Strictly Root”.

The visit witness Stonebwoy perform in Tivolivredenburg Utrecht, Metropole Hall Lausanne, Switzerland and at De Vaartkapoen Bruxelles Brussel, Belgium

Amid the year, he worked Jamaican acts, Kranium and I Octane, Nigeria’s Patoranking and Burna Boy, and Ghanaian famous acts, R2Bees, Yaa Pono and a host of others.
