Majid Michel stated in a recent interview that there were many things he disliked while growing up but going to school has been the most hated one.

He said, “While I was growing up, I did not like school, I despised it and I only enjoyed watching movies.”

The Amakye and Dede actor also described the start of his acting journey.

He said that one of his neighbors introduced him to a modeling agency that, in those days, was looking for new talent for radio and television adverts.

Although he failed in his first attempt but it did not discourage him in pursuing his long awaited dream. On that note, after acquiring his first role in television series; Things We Do For Love, he attended two movie schools in five years and returned a better person.

“I recall the time after my come back from the Things We Do For Love series, I received many good appraisals about my acting skills, everyone noticed improvements in me but what they did not know is that, it’s a crux of all my learning and training at school,” he explained.

Michel is amongst those Ghanaian actors who entered into movie industry during the time period in which Frank Rajah Arase had signed a contract with Ghana’s Abdul Salam Mumuni of Venus Films. The contract was about introducing Ghanaian actors into the established Nollywood movie industry and helping them in acquiring a star power comparable to Nigerian actors.

The movies featuring Michel, which were produced under this contract, include Crime to Christ, Agony of Christ, The Game, Who Loves Me and Heart of Men.
