George Quaye, the Public Relations Officer of Charterhouse, the coordinators of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), has clarified that prize cash given to award winners of the VGMA is a motivation to them for being present at the award ceremony and redundant for winning.
He said this while speaking to the host of the Entertainment show, when host Kwame Dadzie asked him for what valid reason prize money was not given to champs that were not present at the VGMA ceremony.
‘I am not one of those individuals who has dependably believed that triumphant an award is not about cash. The plaque is the thing that tells that you have won an award and not the cash. Presently, the reason prize money is not given to champs who are not present at the award ceremony is that, the cash is essentially a motivation to urge nominees to must attend the award ceremony’, he clarified.
Notwithstanding, there are exemptions and that is for the coordinators to choose. On the off chance that a nominee can’t attend the ceremony for any reason and he gives the coordinators earlier notice, they might be viewed as’, Chairman of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Board, Nii Ayite Hammond who was likewise on the show included.
As indicated by the VGMA terms and conditions, ‘The Prize cash would only be given to the artists that would be present at the ceremony and get their award {s} by and by’.
The overall artist of the year is qualified for a money prize of 10,000 Ghanaian cedis and each individual winner of a category gets 3,000 Ghanaian cedis.
The ceremony of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Ceremony falls off on the 7TH of May, 2016 at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC).
