Select a pair of shoes:
First of all select the pair you want to work on. It is best to choose the ones that you find boring or don’t wear much. if you haven’t got any try getting one that are used from a thrift store or second hand shop. Leather and patent leather are the best to work on, as it is easy to adhere glue and glitter to it. Look and select the right kind of pair for yourself, it should be one that should look good with glitter on, so it is important to select the pair that goes with that glittery look. Remove all the stains and spots on the shoes using a wet cloth or swab and dry it before working on them. It should be as clean as possible.
2. The gum and the glitter:
Your glitter and your glue are the most important part of your project. So it is very crucial that you choose the right kind of glitter and gum for your shoes. Pick up more sparkly one that and the color that matches your shoes. The glue that you pick should be the one that is good quality and goes well with your glitter. Modge podge is the one kind that is used for this purpose. You can also use dimontais; bows, etc if you like, but don’t overdo it, as glitter is a decoration on its own.
3. Set up your working area:
It is important that you set up your working area before starting to work as this is a very messy project. Glitter tends to spread everywhere so if you plan to work inside that it is best that you work on the table top and cover the top with newspaper or plastic sheet an some part of the floor just under your feet. If you plan to work outside, line up the surface you are going to work
on using a newspaper or sheet. If it is windy just try to sit and work inside. Set your tools that include a rubber cup, a mixing stirrer and a paint brush along with a wiping paper in case you mess up.
4. Start up:
Think of the design you want on your shoes before actually starting up. Cover the parts with a tape that you don’t want glitter on and leave the rest Uncovered. Mix the modge podge in the cup and glitter. Mix them well, this might take a few minutes now dip the paint brush in your gum glitter mix and, remove if there is any extra on the tip. Slowly start to stroke the brush on the surface of the shoes you want glitter on and keep doing it until the whole area is covered with. You can apply double or triple coat if you want more. But always remember to dry it off for applying the new coat. Let it dry and you are ready to rock your new shoes after, get to work and good luck!
