Nana Kwaku Bonsam
Renowned Ghanaian fetish priest, Nana Kwaku Bonsam has also added his voice in the thousands discussing about music players taking ‘payola’ for the promotion of song as numerous artist believe is a major headache to them in their music profession.
‘Payola’ is a word which means an informal way by which some musicians use to push their ways through by paying some amount of money to a DJ just to promote his song on the airwaves for him.
Last weekend, in an exclusive interview with DJ Premiere on Accra based radio channel, The ‘Kofi oo Kofi’ pastor said the divine beings will never take it easy with a music player who betrays an artist on the issue of ‘payola’ when the DJs fizzles the musicians, if the divine beings are called upon.
“On the off chance that an artist pays amount of money to you for playing his music and you neglect to do as such, when the individual approaches the gods, you will be rebuffed. Once the musician pays the cash, you need to play his music at any possible cost. If you neglect to do as such and the individual approaches the gods, you will be punished.”
The problem of payola has been a topic of discussion along the week as numbers of musicians are whining about as an activity to kill their profession, particularly the individuals who don’t have cash to get themselves through. Some additionally say that they pay considerable amount of money to the DJs and DJs don’t play their songs as agreed.
