A fashion victim is a person who obeys and follows every trend in fashion without keeping anything in consideration. Everyone cannot pull every look off and it is not possible to do that without making a fool of you.
In this article we will discuss how to avoid becoming a fashion victim by accepting that not every clothes and style looks good on you and you should consider a few things before going for those trends.

1. Find outfits that go well with your figure and style:

It is important for you to follow these steps to avoid becoming a fashion victim;

  1. Always shop for the trends and styles that you like, if the latest trends do not suit you, you are not obligated to obey them wear stuff that you like and goes with your personality.
  2. Learn to accept your body; it is important that you accept your body as everyone has imperfections. Try to work your problem parts out. Like, you can mask the attention from the thicker parts of your body by using material and items that draw more attention to the thinner parts of your body.
  3. Know your sizes so that you can buy clothes that fit you fine. Measure precisely your sizes and compare them against the brand or the stores measurement chart. Measure your bust by wrapping a measuring tape around the widest part of your bust and hips. Wrap measuring tape around the narrowest part of your waist to get the right size for your waist and it is usually correct.
  4. Set your budget for how much money you can spend, leave your credit and ATM card at home as it will prevent you from buying stuff that you don’t need and  keep you from impulse buying. It is especially helpful for women who lack the self discipline to limit themselves. Stick to your budget.
  5. Sort your wardrobe well. Throw away unused, worn out pieces and keep the ones that suit you and are according to the trends well on top. Clothing that is out of fashion, store or pack it away in case the fashion returns and you need it. Always keep your closet as well organized so you don’t have a hard time picking up clothes.
  6. Keep your focus more on purchasing basic classic pieces and keep less attention on getting trendy pieces, sure you should have them, but spend more money on basics than on getting the pieces that you are going to wear for only a season.
  7. Go for clothes that suit you, instead of going for the brand name and ending up getting stuff that don’t look good on you. Wear design instead of brand.

    8. Avoid mixing bold patterns in your clothing items together, for example, if you are wearing a bold polka dot shirt; avoid pairing it with a too flashy colored skirt or any floral printed skirt. Combine bold patterns with muted ones. Don’t over accessorize, if you decide to wear a chunky bracelet, then wear same colored pumps and leave at that, don’t keep adding accessories just because they go with your dress.

  8. Dress up according to the occasion or event you are supposed to attend. For example, always keep your casual pieces like trendy skinny jeans, sundresses, flip-flops, shorts and trendy shirts with you as they are perfect for going out on the town. However, there are some events that call for your little black dress or your cocktail or gown, but it doesn’t mean that you wear those to your trip to the drug store or your neighbour’s barbeque. So always dress up right for the occasion.
    It is a lot of fun going to shopping spread, but only buy what you need, this way you would buy items that you really need. Make your own style and rock it!
