Ghanaian film writer and director, Priscilla Anany
Ghanaian film writer and director, Priscilla Anany was awarded with the Best New Narrative Director award at the Tribeca Film Festival 2016 edition, took place at New York, USA with her remarkable film, “Children of the Mountain”.
In the history of Ghana, she is the first ever movie director from Ghana to win this award.
In the year 2002, The Tribeca Film Festival was established by Jane Rosenthal, Craig Hatkoff and Robert De Niro, to empower the global film society and the overall population to encounter the influence of movie by rethinking the film celebration experience.”
The Tribeca Film Festival was basically founded to commemorate the city, New York as a foremost filmmaking center and for contributing to the long haul recuperation of lower Manhattan.
Now, annual 2016 edition of the film festival also fell off with an award distribution ceremony and Ghana’s Priscilla Anany also won the award with her first feature movie “Children of the Mountain.”
Film was produced by one-sixty (160) Productions, and was filmed in Ghana, and the top class artists featured in the movie were William Addo (Akpatse), Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokunu), Akofa Edjeani, Adjetey Anang, Agbeko “Bex” Mortty and many among other.
The jury of Tribeca commented on a film in an editorial, “So a significant number of the movies we had the joy of survey were expertly directed and deserving of acknowledgment. The winning film-director shows a brave and heart breaking story of a troubled mother’s high stakes excursion to mend her wiped out child and at last her. The film was directed capably and delicately, also, effectively guides us through a sincerely resounding story that is hopeless for honest reasons and at the same time hopeful.”
