Abeiku Sagoe
Veteran Ghanaian movie personality, Mr. Abeiku Sagoe has stated that most of the Ghanaian movie directors and producers misbehave with actors and they literally have no respect for movie actors.
According to ace actor, this is very unethical and he quit accepting scripts from producers after he was not able to persist how badly on-screen characters were dealt with.
In an exclusive interview with Daavi Esi on radio station expressed that this thing has a very negative impact on our movie industry because most of the actors don’t want to work with rude and impolite movie producers.
Despite the fact that he didn’t toss all the more light on such immoral acts of producers, the star actor demonstrated that he was very contended to composing scripts, making films and featuring in his own productions.
He said, “I quit acting long prior. I compose my own script and produce film myself. Basically, I stopped this due to the fact that occasionally you get to the level when you don’t value the treatment of on-screen characters. The vast majority of the film producers don’t regard movie stars. From this point I felt I could no more stand it because I can’t bear this type of attitude.”
However, Mr.Sagoe expressed that he has featured in a film for Abdul Salam Mumuni including that he will consider representing individuals it is justified, despite all the trouble.
He said, if movies are a true picture of what is actually happening in our society then right things must be done.
He said, “If it’s a character for an old person, an old person plays it. If it’s for a young person, a young person plays it. This thing that we’re doing here in Ghana where young people play the role of an elderly is not professional.”
Some famous productions of Abeiku are A Knock from Inside, Back Home from Justice, Samori, Nemesis and Avenger.
In 2014, his production Nemesis was nominated for exhibition at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
