The Iranian superstar of the Oscar-nominated hit film “The Salesman” expressed on Thursday that she would boycott the awards in protest at the American President Donald Trump’s “racist” ban on refugees from Muslim-majority states.
According to the sources, Taraneh Alidoosti, who is the film’s 33-year-old well-known leading actress, tweeted, “Trump’s visa ban for Iranians is not fair. Whereas this will include a cultural event or not, I won’t attend the #AcademyAwards 2017 in its protest.”
As the American President Trump, is allegedly dignified to stop visas for the travellers from 7 Muslim countries, counting Iran, for about 30 days.
According to the Donald Trumps, his plan was not a “Muslim ban”, but only targeted those countries that “have great terror”.
Film “The Salesman”, is directed by the highly praised Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi and is nominated for best foreign-language film at the Academy Awards, which will be held in next month.
Although, Farhadi won an Oscar Award in 2012 for his film “A Separation”.
According to the sources, visa applications from Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Iran, Somalia, Libya and Yemen are all probable to be stopped for a month under a current executive order issued in the Washington Post and New York Times.
Hence the draft order pursues to suspend the US immigrant programme for 4 months as officials draw up a list of low danger countries.
The Oscars are due to held on February 26.
