Ghanaian hiplife artist, C-zar
Ghanaian hiplife artist, C-zar has recently expressed that according to his point of view, Ghanaian rap god Sarkodie is the only rapper who has taken Ghana music to the whole next level. As indicated by him, all the Ghanaian rappers are trying their best to achieve their goals by doing successful shows internationally. However, Sarkodie is the only one of them who has reached at that point just because of his one of a kind style of rap.
While speaking exclusively to the host Nana Romeo on Friday, the hiplife artist said, ‘Today, most of our songs have turned into rap songs, it is clear evidence that if you can’t rap you are out of the game or you can’t do music. This has enabled the Nigerian artists to win to exceed over us, since, they have taken the highlife beats and are using their vernaculars, their pidgin to sing and the outsiders relate with them more than us since they have built up their own particular style’.
Mercy Lokko also said, ‘Ghanaians are just duplicating western rappers verbatim thus Ghana music has destroyed that is how I see it. There are a couple of artists like Kofi Kinaata and Wuta with their hit song “Bronya” which today, both youth and old are singing and moving to’.
‘Aside from Sarkodie who is taking Ghana to another level, other rappers are not taking us anywhere. Sarkodie is the only rapper making Ghana proud’.
