Sarkodie in a latest interview with media communicated about the Twi language, singers he listened to and explain the difference between him and other singers.
Presently supporting his Mary album, Sark described that;
The humorous thing is that I don’t speak Twi, Obrafour actually speaks Twi. He identifies how to state definite words, but I don’t identify. But I’m good at having a very good Twi pronunciation so it makes somebody that likes Twi like it when I say something.
Sark narrated that People consider that rap is about bars. No, it’s how you say it. If you are speaking to someone and you are pissed, the feelings you use, should be the similar when you are singing about it.
The Elijah rapper speaking about his impacts in the rap scene exposed that;
Obrafour, Reggie Rockstone, Okomfour Kwadee and Lord Kenya were very prominent. Those are the masterpieces and I still listen to them till date. But I don’t see myself as them; like Obrafour did, coming after Reggie. I am doing what the new external ear will be used to, so when the previous person comes, he will take a new feel for the total thing to make it inspirational to the new audience too.
Speaking about the change between his style and his colleagues, he concluded that;
Sometimes I question myself that the difference between me and the other rappers out there. And I think all they do is to rap and that’s the difficulty. I think the rap should be like you are having a discussion. It has to be free. But you have to be a devotee of rap to be in that zone or level.
