Legendary musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley has shown his concerns over the music style adapted by the young generation of musicians in Ghana, labeling them as copycats.

He thinks that each country has its own style of music which represents them but the recent generation of musicians is making changes in the highlife genre, which Ghana is famous for.

“Each country has some special music to give, we have a lot to give in this country but the young generation of musicians have some issue with them because they are not showing originality and they are only copying other artists and that bothers me,” he revealed in an interview.

In his point of view, Ghanaian dancehall musicians prefer to copy music from Jamaica instead of being a bit creative in blending dancehall with the highlife to own the beat.

Famous as father of rap in Ghana, Ambolley put blame on the radio stations for playing dancehall tracks more than highlife music.

Ambolley has released 29 albums so far and received several awards. He is ready to release his 30th album in June this year.

He further revealed that the new album is made up of nine songs and the name of the album is yet to be decided on.

Making comments about what inspires him to create music; he said “It’s a natural talent I was gifted with by the God. I sat down and thought twice and understood that music is the only thing I can give to the world and I have no regrets for doing this.”

He further disclosed that the new album has nine songs and the title of the album is not decided yet.
